Time: Saturday 9-12:00
Location: Advanced Massage Therapeutics, Louisville, KY
Instructor: Amber Davies, CMTPT, LMT
Course Description:
Massage and manual therapists often suffer career-ending repetitive strain injuries and chronic pain. Learn better ergonomics and innovative, proven self-treatment techniques you can do yourself without causing further harm.
As therapists, our arms and hands are our most valuable tools. Self-care advice is often to rest, heat, ice, and stretch but this completely misses the most valuable therapy we provide, massage!
The key to a long career is a healthy body. Self-care is invaluable.
Worried about self-treating with your own already overused hands?
No worries! We can treat our own arms and hands using simple tools, such as tennis and high-bounce balls against the wall and tabletop. Included for FREE in the class.
This course is packed with video tutorials, drawings from The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook; Your Self-Treatment Guide for Pain Relief, symptom descriptions, and practical advice from a 20+ year massage veteran.
These are palpation tips you will not see anywhere else, even YouTube. Amber will demonstrate exactly how to locate each muscle and pinpoint their most common myofascial trigger points, how to do self-myofascial release of the anterior body muscles kept short and tight leaning over the massage table.
This is an excellent opportunity to use your body as a learning laboratory. The work you do on yourself will teach you how to relieve symptoms of tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel, thoracic outlet syndrome, pronator teres syndrome, thumb pain for your clients. .
Open to massage therapy students, massage therapists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists only please.
Class size is limited to about 20 participants.
